This is our typical morning breakfast.....pretending our bowl of cereal is a drum? CHECK. Milk smeared all over the table? CHECK. Orange juice poured all over our fruit? CHECK. Just one hot second away from a nut house....
I don't know about mornings at your house, but ours can be a little circus-esque (if you will). Getting a toddler breakfast, packing lunches up and getting us all out the door fed and dressed is a small victory in the world of parenting. We don't usually have time for a full on egg bake with veggies and fruit. Nope, most mornings it's toast, fruit and yogurt. Hello, boring :(
So here are some great ideas for easy, make ahead, grab and go breakfast ideas -- let's mix it up, shall we?!?! :)
Smoothies (Make Ahead)
So I've already done a post on smoothies -- but a great idea I have come accross is to prepackage your ingredients. Yes, that's right. I'm sure you've seen other bloggers show their beatiful ziplocs full of fruit, spinach and yogurt, just ready to be blended.
Here's an example from Becca @ Blue Cricket Design
Muffins (Make ahead and freeze)
Did you know most muffins freeze SO well? Anytime I make a batch of muffins, I take about half and put them in a freezer ziploc right away. ( I make mine without the paper wrappers for this reason.) These are one of the easiest, quickest breakfasts around. Take out a muffin, and pop it in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds. YUM! Below is a recipe for some of our favorite (not-your-healthiest) Tuscan Lemon Muffins from Cooking Light
Breakfast Burritos (Freezer)
Breakfast burritos are a GREAT idea for breakfasts! PLUS, did you know you can make a dozen or so and pop them in the freezer for future use? YES -- just two minutes or so in the microwave and you are on your way!
I also want to share some fellow bloggers' quick and easy recipes for a satisfying, filling breakfast on the go. :)
