One thing I love about motivational quotes and photos is not only is it applicable to my fitness, but most of the time it is applicable to almost all areas of my life. Especially the one I made today.
"Be better than you were yesterday."
That sure covers a lot, doesn't it? Be better at running than yesterday. Be a better wife today than I was yesterday. Be a better mom today than I was before. Be a better employee, etc. With all the roles we try to fill as working women; stay at home moms, work at home wives, friends, employees and everything in between -- it's easy to get caught in the rut of routine.
Can I challenge to you today? Pick one role that you have and this week work on being better in that role than you were last week. Can you be a better friend today than you were yesterday? A better teacher? A better daughter?
It's actually something I do once a month. I choose the main roles I play. (Child of God, Wife, Mother, Friend, Employee, Daughter/Sister). I think about each one and look for something I can improve upon. Usually it's not that hard for me to find a way I can improve -- I have a lot of work to do! :) I write down my personal goal/improvement in my planner and read it each day to remind myself. Then the next month I think of another way to improve and write that one down.
This month, for example, I wrote down that I'd like to spend more undistracted time with my daughter. That means really paying attention to her while we are together. Puting down my phone, the dust rag, the vacuum, the computer, etc. -- what ever it may be that day and paying attention to her.
There you have it -- I challenge you to Be better today (this week, month, year) than you were yesterday (last week, last month, last year).
